Class A and B licences are administered by WorkSafe. Refer to the Asbestos Removal Licensing Guide for Applicants for further information on criteria and how to apply.
To become a licensed Assessor
Licensed asbestos assessors (or a competent person) may do the following tasks:
- air monitoring during asbestos removal work
- clearance inspections for asbestos removal work
- issue clearance certificates for asbestos removal work
Asbestos assessors can also carry out other tasks, including identifying asbestos and carrying out a risk assessment.
Unlike Class A and B asbestos removal licences, asbestos assessor licences are granted to individual people, not to PCBUs.
From 4 April 2018, only licenced assessors are permitted to carry out (assess) the above work for Class A asbestos removal.
